Engulfed by a blinding light, we exit the Almannaskarðsgöng pass in East Iceland, eyes straining to unveil the landscape emerging in front of us.
Sprawling along the coast for miles and miles, black and white stroked mountains materialise, their sheer walls bathed by the gentle sway of the ocean.
Punctuated by the occasional birdsong, the soothing melody of the waves fills the icy air in a spellbinding lullaby.
As we drive further north, the chilling waters of the North Atlantic Ocean cut deep into the brooding mountains, creating one of Iceland's most awe-inspiring landscapes, the East Fjords.
